Sponsored Research
Collaboration: An Indo-Russian
Title: Multiscale modeling of deformation behaviour of carbon fiber-reinforced high-end thermoplastics
Funding Agency: Department of Science and Technology
Scheme: DST/INT/RUS/RSF/P-43/2021 (G)
Sanction Order Number: E-40098
Dated: 16/03/2023
Duration: 3 years
Total Cost: Rs 47,60,604.

Progress Report of the Sponsored Project (2023-24)
After researching about the topic domain, a dataset is being generated and refined, that comprises of Stress-Strain relationship of the thermoplastic polymers, and the corresponding Standard force values that have been applied to the manufactured samples to study their deformation behaviour. The dataset also contains graphs for each set of density, polymer-carbon fiber ratio values that have been performed on given test speeds of the deformation of fibers.
Using the dataset, we are planning to generate a model, that would take as input the given constants given above, and would generate 3 specific Standard force data points for them, corresponding to each deformation behaviour. The first output point will tell us the value of the standard force at which the fiber orientations inside the polymer-fiber composite starts to deform by straightening up from their cylindrical shapes. The second point will give us the standard force value at which the internal fibers inside the composite have been completely broken, and the third point will give us the fracture point of the sample, i.e, the point at which the sample is completely broken or fractured into two parts.
Activities Under The project during 2023-24
1. A paper has been published in Alexandria Engineering Journal titled “ANN-based structure peciliaties evaluation of polymer composite reinforced with unidirectional carbon fiber” as an outcome of the ongoing project.
DOI: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1110016823008578
2. International Visit to Russian under the Indo-Russian Project by Dr. Ashish Khanna (PI) for 15-days from 12/11/2023 to 25/11/2023.

3. International Visit to Russian under the Indo-Russian Project by Dr. Deepak Gupta (CO-PI) for 15-days from 09/03/2024 to 22/03/2024

Activities Under The project during 2024-25
A paper has been accepted in an International Conference on Computing & Communication Networks (ICCCNet) 2024 was held on 17-18th October ,2024 at Manchester Metropolitan University titled “Deformation Behaviour estimation of Carbon-Fiber inducted Polymers using Machine Learning” as an outcome of the ongoing project.
Master Class on "An Introduction to Natural Language Processing"
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi, organized a Master Class on "An Introduction to Natural Language Processing" on 7th April 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This insightful session was conducted by Dr. Chico Camargo from the University of Exeter, UK, who shared foundational concepts and real-world applications of Natural Language Processing (NLP), a rapidly evolving field at the intersection of linguistics, computer science, and artificial intelligence. The event was held in Lab No. 131-132, Block-I, and saw active participation from more than 50 students, who engaged enthusiastically with the speaker and the content. Organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Namita Gupta, HOD, CSE, and coordinated by Dr. Ankita Gupta and Dr. Sandeep Tayal, the session provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain exposure to cutting-edge research and practical insights in NLP, encouraging deeper academic engagement in the field.
