Event: Hands-on Workshop on Drone/UAV, UAS: Applications
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), in collaboration with MEITY and C-DAC, hosted a one-week hands-on workshop titled "Drone / UAV, UAS: Applications and Security Challenges" from August 5th to August 9th, 2024. The workshop was organised under the guidance of Prof. Namita Gupta, HoD, CSE Department, convened by Dr. Ashish Khanna, with committee members Ms. Garima Gupta, Dr. Farzil Kidwai, Dr. Ankita Gupta, and Mr. Akshay Mool, the event aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of drone technology. The speakers for the workshop were Dr. Kalpna Johari, Scientist F and Dr. Kriti Saroha, Scientist E. Demonstration of Drone were done by Ms. Kiran Walia, and Mr. Gaurav Kumar.
The workshop included sessions on the introduction to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), drone components, assembly and disassembly, regulations, mission planning, sensor introduction, flight controllers, PID controllers, and practical drone flying and simulation exercises. Each day featured a mix of lectures, hands-on activities, and breaks, culminating in an assessment test and valedictory session on the final day.
The objective of the workshop was to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the field of drone technology. It aims to cover the fundamental aspects of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), including their components, assembly, disassembly, and applications. Additionally, the workshop will address regulatory guidelines, mission planning, sensor technology, flight controllers, and the principles of drone flight dynamics. By the end of the workshop, participants should be proficient in drone assembly, operation, and understanding the security challenges associated with drones. The hands-on approach ensures that attendees gain real-world experience in drone technology and its various applications. A total of 97 students from different branches participated in the workshop.
