HackwithMAIT 5.0 - Three-day National-Level Hackathon

HackwithMAIT 5.0, a three-day national-level hackathon was organized by the Department of Computer Science, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT) from 24th to 26th October 2024, concluded with the final round at Microsoft Gurgaon on 26th October 2024, where the top 10 teams presented their revolutionary ideas. Sponsored by renowned organizations, including Meril as the title sponsor and Kwikpic as the official photo-sharing partner, the event aimed to foster a culture of product innovation and problem-solving among the brightest young minds. HackwithMAIT 5.0 provided an ideal platform for students to showcase their talent and creativity, ensuring participants could effortlessly capture and share their moments during the event.
With more than 1500+ individual registrations, the event recorded the participation of over 350 teams and 1,221 students from 60+ institutions, including NITs, DTU, and IIITs. Out of the 350 registrations, 1,221 students from 60+ unique colleges across cities like Jalandhar, Bhilwara, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida, Rohtak, and more were shortlisted to compete in the final rounds. The competition featured 245 teams from Delhi and 98 teams from outside Delhi, including 94 teams for the Silver Jubilee Challenge and 116 teams participating in sponsored tracks, showcasing a diverse and dynamic range of talent.
The event was officially inaugurated on 24th October 2024, with the gracious presence of the Founder and Chief Advisor of MATES, Dr. Nand Kishore Garg and blessings of Shri. Vineet Lohia, Chairman, MATES. The inauguration was also graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Sharma (Director, MAIT), Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Garg (Director General, MAIMS), Prof. (Dr.) S. S. Deswal (Dean Academics, MAIT), and Prof. Namita Gupta (HOD, CSE). Their encouragement and support added to the enthusiasm of the participants.
A special tech talk was delivered by Mr. Abhishek Mishra, Director at Solas Industries, who shared his journey from an MBA at IIT-ISM Dhanbad to setting up India’s first green-energy-powered facility for food processing. With experience in marketing and business development at CK Birla Group and insights from World Food India 2017, he enlightened students on industry trends and the future of sustainable food processing. Additionally, Mr. Pinaki Barat, Senior Marketing Manager at Meril, our esteemed title sponsor, delivered a session on Meril's innovative contributions to healthcare robotics, adding valuable perspectives on cutting-edge technologies.
The organizing committee, led by Prof. Namita Gupta as the Program Chair, along with conveners Ms. Kavita Saxena, Dr. Farzil Kidwai, Dr. Moolchand Sharma, and Mr. Anupam Kumar, worked diligently to ensure the success of HackwithMAIT 5.0, held from 24th-26th October 2024. They were further supported by co-conveners Dr. Deepak Gupta, Ms. Deepti Gupta, and Ms. Zameer Fatima. The combined efforts of the faculty coordinators and dedicated student teams made the hackathon a truly memorable and impactful event, fostering innovation and collaboration among participants.
Participants presented innovative solutions across diverse sponsored and innovation tracks, such as Communication Systems, Web3, Healthcare, EdTech, Mobile and Wireless Networks, IoT, FinTech, Network Management and Monitoring, Quality of Service (QoS), and Open Innovation, competing for a prize pool exceeding ₹1,90,000. Among the standout projects, the solutions targeted challenges like crypto mining, blockchain development, and AI-powered educational tools. Sponsored tracks included prizes from Afreebug for Crypto Mining, Aptos, Polygon, ETHIndia (Ethereum), and Tezos India. The participants were judged by the esteemed judges and the mentors.
The final round of the Hackathon was at Microsoft on 26th October. The top ten teams presented their ideas at Microsoft Gurgaon in front of judges Mayank Jolly, Senior Consultant at Microsoft, and Dipak Pandey, Senior Consultant at Microsoft. The judges mentioned that it was incredibly challenging to decide the winners due to the exceptional performance of all teams. They decided to award two special prizes worth of ₹3,100 to the two outstanding teams.
HackwithMAIT 5.0 provided an exceptional opportunity for students to collaborate, innovate, and showcase their talents on a national platform. The event concluded with an inspiring display of ingenuity and teamwork, setting a high standard for future editions.
