Industrial Visit to the Centre for e-Governance (CeG), MeitY

On 9th Feb 2026, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MAIT conducted an educational excursion to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). A group of 38 students, along with faculty members Ms. Savita Sharma and Dr. Farzil Kidwai, explored the pivotal theme: "Digital India—Empowerment and Transformation."

Key Highlights of the Visit

The session was headlined by Mr. Sunil Kumar, Additional Director at MeitY, who provided a comprehensive roadmap of the ministry’s strategic objectives. The visit was structured into three core segments:

  1. The Digital Roadmap: An analysis of the evolution of the "Digital India" initiative, focusing on its nine foundational pillars and the long-term vision for national technological growth.
  2. Live Demonstrations: Students observed real-time applications and government-developed platforms, gaining a technical perspective on how these systems handle large-scale public data.
  3. Knowledge Assessment: To wrap up the learning session, a competitive quiz was held. The top three high-scorers were recognized with prizes, sparking a healthy spirit of academic competition.

Key Takeaways

The visit bridged the gap between classroom theory and national-scale implementation. Key benefits included:

  • Policy Insight: Understanding how government frameworks directly influence the trajectory of the Indian tech sector.
  • Direct Engagement: Interactive Q&A sessions with MeitY officials allowed students to align their technical skills with national innovation goals.
  • Practical Perspective: Seeing firsthand how "Digital Empowerment" translates into functional tools for millions of citizens.

"The visit was both enlightening and inspiring. It allowed us to see exactly how our engineering education contributes to the broader mission of driving India’s technological progress."
