The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MAIT organized an insightful industrial visit to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on 10th Oct 2024. The visit, attended by 31 students and accompanied by faculty members Ms. Savita Sharma and Dr. Nisha Aggarwal, focused on exploring the theme 'Digital India—Empowerment and Transformation.'
Mr. Sunil Kumar, Additional Director at MeitY, led the session with an in-depth presentation, shedding light on the ministry's functions and overarching goals. The session began with an introduction to the ministry, followed by a thorough exploration of the evolution of the Digital India program, its nine foundational pillars, and the key focus areas for sustained growth.
Students were engaged with live demonstrations of various websites developed by the ministry, with detailed explanations of their functionalities. To gauge the student's understanding of the subject matter, a quiz was conducted based on the presentation's content. The top three performers were awarded prizes.
Interactive Q&A sessions throughout the visit allowed students to engage directly with the material, fostering a deeper understanding of the digital initiatives spearheaded by the government. The visit was a valuable experience, providing students with a practical perspective on digital empowerment and the transformation efforts driving India's progress.
The visit to MeitY was both enlightening and inspiring. It provided a comprehensive understanding of the role that government policies play in shaping the tech industry in India. Engaging with officials and discussing our technical know-how allowed us to see how our education aligns with national goals in technology and innovation.
